Summer is here, which means gas prices are going up. The kids are out of school so everyone is planning their annual summer vacation.
Unfortunately, those $2-a-gallon days are gone. According to AAA, a spike in crude oil prices has lifted the national average price of gas by 31% over the past year.
Instead of taking a road trip this summer, people are deciding to stay home.
Do you blame them?
With the money you save, why not consider swapping out the gas car for an electric? It’s the wave of the future.
If you’re indecisive, we’ve got some help on how to make the switch between gas and electric cars!
Cheaper to Run
Electricity is cheaper than paying for gas at the pump. Plug-in hybrids combine an electric motor with a diesel engine which means that they are cheaper to run.
The Department of Energy estimates that EV pollution is 60% below that of gas-powered cars.
Cheaper to Maintain
Think about every time you’ve taken your car in for an oil change. The mechanic has to consider several components in order for your car to operate correctly – the engine, exhaust systems, fuel injection systems, gears, radiators, etc.
With an electric car, there are three components – the onboard charger, inverter, and motor. That means less maintenance and service for you. No more waiting three hours for your car!
An electric motor requires fewer moving parts which means less and wear on the car. It’s one of the biggest benefits of an electric car because you’re saving money!
Better for the Environment
People make the switch between gas and electric cars because they care about the environment. Pure electric cars have no tailpipe emissions which means no exhaust.
By having no exhaust, you’re improving air quality, particularly in big cities where air quality isn’t that great. This is why Ford Vans are going green in 2018.
A pure electric car can still produce low greenhouse gases than a regular or diesel car.
Do you think that gas cars will be extinct in the 10 years? It’ll be interesting to see where the future goes.
Easy Charging
Imagine never having to go to the gas station again!
All you have to do is plug in your car at home and charge it overnight. Just like with a cell phone. It’s ready for you in the morning with a full charge.
Plugging in the car takes about 15 seconds. No fuss, no problems.
Using a home charging unit is the easiest and safest way to go. What more could you ask for?
Make the Choice Between Gas and Electric Cars
Don’t believe the hype that electric cars are so expensive that no one can afford them. That myth is false.
According to Forbes, a Tesla Model 3 goes for around $35,000 and a Chevy Bolt goes for around $37,000. That’s totally doable!
It’s even cheaper if you opt for a used electric car with a couple thousand miles on it.
